Born in 1973 in Burgundy, France, Arnaud Bathiard is a fine-art photographer specialized in black and white. A self-taught photographer, his love of seascapes quickly lead him to become interested in the technique of long exposure, which he has developed during his many trips with his wife Tiphaine. The Azores, an autonomous region of Portugal, are most commonly characterized by dramatic landscapes, fishing villages, and green pastures gratefully salvaged from mass tourism. Bathiard does a spectacular job of capturing the unique landscape of this secret land with an incredible softness and clarity that celebrates its natural beauty. His long exposure technique adds an amazing feeling of peace and calm that one can only imagine is the sense upon stepping foot on this majestic land.
