‘Being a fan of Star Wars like many people of my generation, I wanted to introduce my son to that universe 10 years ago: I started to buy for him Hasbro Star Wars ships; Then, just for fun, we repainted them together, trying to find this famous patina characteristic of the world of the first trilogy. Being a photographer, and especially a graphic designer in the world of cinema (I have been designing cinema posters for twenty years), I then pushed the process further by putting my son’s toys in situation. I took pictures of these ships, in Paris and other places where I traveled, then thanks to my friend Photoshop, I restored some scales, adding certain textures to my images… In short, I tried to create totally original images, without attempting to respect the real context of the staged subjects, but rather creating a universe close to our everyday life. Yet sometimes the intent is only pictorial and solely aesthetic, as for a movie poster.’ – Laurent Pons
