Nagotoya Jelly Dessert Displays A Different Scene As It Gets Sliced

Made by renowned sweet-maker Nagotoya, the jelly dessert, made in the shape of a block, has a different scene embedded in the jelly with every slice taken, creating the image of a bird flying toward the moon in a ‘flip-book’ style.

‘Over 170 years ago during the Edo period in the quiet castle town of Aizu in the north east of Japan, the lord of the land ordered a small sweet-maker to start creating confectionery for the common people. Since then, Nagatoya has been creating simple delicious sweets that have their roots embedded deep in the community. To this day, we welcome our customers to our traditional shop, which is over a hundred years old.’ – Nagotoya
