Ben Young Glass And Concrete Luminous Sculptures Explore The Relationship Between Humans And Nature

Sydney-based artist Ben Young uses glass and concrete to create sculptures that are like frozen, suspended scenes. Growing up surfing in Waihi Beach, New Zealand, Ben has always been drawn to the ocean so a lot of his work is centered around the sea. Despite being such a solid material, Ben manages to assign glass a liquid-like quality through laborious cutting and layering. Exploring the relationship between man and nature, Young’s work is both deeply personal to the viewer and at the same time exploring subject matter that is universal, connecting Young, his work and his viewers in a moment of awe and nostalgia.
