Hsu Tung Han’s Brilliant Pixelated Wood Sculptures Looking Like Digital Distortion

Taiwanese artist Hsu Tung Han creates incredible figurative sculptures that appear to be dissolving into a field of pixels. Approaching each piece like a puzzle, Han carefully plans through sketches and clay models before the final wood segments are carved.
Using positive and negative space to great effect, the wood blocks either push or pull. This gives his figures a dynamism that seems to set them in motion. Whether they appear rushing forth or tranquilly pulled apart, each wood sculpture is a masterclass in how artists can manipulate a medium. You can see more of Han’s pixelated wood works on his Flickr.
