The 2017 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards

Animals do the funniest things and these pictures from the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards prove it. The 2017 edition is still accepting entries but while the judges are warming up we can already take a peek at some of the funniest submissions of the contest.
This year we have an array of creatures getting up to mischief, including lions, penguins and foxes. Around 2,200 images were submitted last year from 75 countries and the event’s organizers predict there will be even more in 2017.
Photographer Tom Sullam, who set up the competition with colleague Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE, said he hoped the photos would shine a light on wildlife conservation:
‘Conservation was always at the heart of the competition, along with the fact that people seemed to enjoy images of animals doing entertaining things!
Living in a country that has some of the best wildlife in the world – Tanzania – and seeing how destructive human actions can be on this wildlife, made us want to do our little bit to help.
Raising awareness through photography, getting people involved and using humor as a positive reinforcement of the good things, rather than focusing on the negative imagery that has historically been used – which does have its place in the fight to raise awareness’.
